List of Branches in the North East region
The North East Region covers an area of many contrasts. From the Scottish Border through wild and beautiful Northumberland, historic County Durham, bustling Tyne & Wear, down to industrial Cleveland, the River Tees and the edge of North Yorkshire. Reorganisation means that the original North East Region divided into two units and the Yorkshire and Humber Region came into being. Old links and friendships have not been lost and these will continue wherever the boundaries are drawn on a map.

St. Aidan's College, Durham City

There were two tutors, both of whom led Regional courses for the first time.
Linda Marie Young with 'Think outside the Box - Creative Box Making Workshop'
This was an experimental workshop suitable for all abilities and working with mixed media textiles.
Students made a unique box inspired by something personal to them and decorated both inside and out - with the addition of a personal tag.
Heather Harrison tutored 'Reflections in Silk and Gold'
Traditional embroidery techniques concentrated on tapestry shading and goldwork. The embroidery created a tapestry shaded scene with a combination of metal thread techniques and padding.
Students could choose between residential and non-residential places.

The North East Region staged a major exhibition in 2006 to celebrate the Centenary of the Embroiderers' Guild. The exhibition, entitled 'Momentum' was opened by Kate Adie at Hartlepool Art Gallery at the beginning of March 06. It featured the past, present and future of the Guild, a wide variety of embroidery techniques and styles and proved extremely popular with visitors.
Members of the North East Region entered a varied range of embroidery. New, contemporary pieces were created in response to the title 'Moving On'. This section of the exhibition featured new work created during 2005 and members were encouraged to explore innovative materials and techniques. There are also many pieces which have been designed and stitched using traditional techniques and favourite interpretations.
