About the Region

Our Region covers a large area geographically from Staffordshire down to Herefordshire. The Regional Committee is elected by the members and organises activities in the Region. We now have 15 Branches in our Region with 4 Area reps liasing with all Branches in their Area. Many activities take place either at Branch, Area or Regional level.
To celebrate the Guild's Centenary year in 2006 our Region has planted an oak tree at the National Memorial Arboretum, Croxall Road, Alrewas, Staffordshire, DE13 7AR. The number of the tree is 393 in area 74. If you are in the area then please go and visit it. The opening hours are every day 9am to 5pm (or dusk if earlier). There is also a Chapel, shop and cafe with a large car park.

25th West Midlands Regional Day - June 25th 2011

Our regional day next year will be on Saturday 25th June 2011. It is to be hosted by Wolverhampton Branch, at Wombourne Civic Centre, Wombourne, WV5 9HA.
Competition Title - Frescoes & Fragments. (2D entries no larger than A3 including frame, 3D entries no size limit).
The business meeting will be held in the morning and in the afternoon the Madeira lecture entitled 'Old Walls & Painted Halls' will be given by Maggie Grey.

Young Embroiderers

Gill Murley is the Young Embroiderers representative for our region. The region currently has 6 groups.
Young embroiderers do not just stitch, their programmes show that they have done or will be doing shadow quilting, mask making, printing, drawing, painting on fabric and paper, beading, paper making, bags, boxes, canvas work, ribbon, fabric and paper weaving as well as stitching. Something for everyone.
Being part of a young embroiderers group is challenging, sometimes exhausting, relaxing, hard work, but worth it and very rewarding. It is an opportunity for children (and adults) to work freely without any tests, exams or deadlines, and perhaps most important of all it is a way of keeping embroidery alive.

Regional AGM - Saturday 25th September 2010

Our Regional AGM will be held on Saturday 25th September 2010 at 11am, and will be hosted by Staffordshire Branch at Aston Village Hall, near Stone, Staffs, ST15 0BJ. The formal business will take place at 11am and there will be time for informal discussions and a chance to meet other members, the Regional committee and guests from Hampton Court. Lunch is provided.
