We are a very friendly group, who meet on the last Friday of every month apart from August and December at 7:00 - 9:00 pm
The evening usually starts with coffee/tea and biscuits, then any business e.g. news of exhibitions, plans for the branch etc; then we either have a speaker, or a practical evening, or a mixture of both.
WORKSHOPS
In addition to our Friday evenings, we also hold Saturday Workshops, run by invited speakers/tutors who run these practical classes and cover many different aspects; whether it be embroidery (hand or machine), goldwork, weaving, using unusual techniques (aquafilm etc) or anything else we believe will be of interest to our members.
STITCH CLUBS
We also hold Saturday Stitchclubs. These are run by the members for the members for a nominal fee to cover the hire of the room. Our members are a gifted lot and we've run a huge variety, for example: introduction to braiding, spiral beading, hand patchwork, felting, Christmas Decorations, collage, Jacobean stitching. Future plans also include 3-D stumpwork, more goldwork, general embroidery.
We canvas our members to find out what they would like, so we can try and cater for all needs and abilities.
PROJECTS AND EXHIBITIONS
Another aspect of this branch is project work and exhibitions. Many of you may have heard of our highly successfull Luttrell Psalter Project which has been on exhibition at a number of locations, and been featured in magazines etc. We have also exhibited at Doddington Hall in celebration of Tennyson and also held our own exhibition in Lincoln Library.
