Inspired by Landscape
Use one of your favourite landscapes as a starting point, be it countryside, forest, coast or garden.
Come to structured classes for 10 weeks and explore various techniques and stitch in a workshop atmosphere.
It is an opportunity join a friendly group with like minded people.
Beginners are welcome. Learn about the craft of embroidery and how to plan a panel or hanging.
Those with more experience work on the set project or one your own, in a congenial atmosphere.
Programme for the first 4 weeks
Enjoy exploring the techniques listed below and plan your piece of work.
27 September Methods of using silk paints to colour fabric. Use of gutta and wax. Discussion about your source. Creative stitch.
4 October Making silk paper. Colour schemes and making provisional plan for your landscape piece. Paper collage technique.
Consider the size and the atmosphere that you are trying to create.
11 October Needle felting. Continue to plan your final piece. Make experimental samples for your project.
18 October Dyeing fabric and threads with Procion Dyes. Decide on materials you need to assemble for your project.
These preparations will lead to the making of your final piece to be made in the second half of the term.
Half Term Tuesday 25 October. Continuing dates 1,8,15,22,29 November and 6 December.
