Welcome to the web page of the Chelford Branch of The Embroiderers' Guild.
The branch was established in 1991 and currently has 70 members who meet on the third Wednesday of the month (not August) at Chelford Village Hall, 7.30 start.
Wed. 21st Sept. - Jane Smith will be giving us a talk about her introduction to Japanese Embroidery and how her work has progressed.
Wed. 19th Oct. - Judith Lovatt will be talking about 'What If ...?' which is all her work with demonstrations and shows what happens when you do something in embroidery and then ask 'what if..?' and the hundreds of results which could occur.
This is followed on Thurs. 20th Oct with a workshop called Pointillism or 'Go Dotty'.
Wed. 16th Nov. - Suzanna René's talk will be her idea of 'Textile Heaven'.
Wed. 14th Dec. - Members Christmas Evening with Christmas Ornament competition, mince pies and mulled wine.
Wed. 18th Jan. - Jacqueline Hyman of the Textile Restoration Studio will be talking about 13th/14th Century Medieval Egytian clothing.
Wed. 15th Feb. - Pauline Turner will be talking about 'Crochet the Pirate'.
Wed. 21st Mar. - Marion Anniss will be giving us a talk entitled 'Awe and Wonder' based on a scheme of work for Norwich Cathedral.
Sat. 24th March - Biennial Exhibition of members' work with various traders' stalls and refreshments. As this is Chelford's 21st year, the title of this years competition is 'Reflections' and all entries will be on display and the winner announced towards the end of the day. Open 10 til 4.
Wed. 18th Apr - Susan Briscoe will be talking about her patchwork career and this will be followed on Thursday the 19th with a workshop. Please contact the booking secretary for further details.
Wed. 16th May - Margaret Steeden's talk is entitled 'Moving On' and how she discovered textiles having had to retire early due to ill health.
Wed. 20th June - Katie Pirson, a recent graduate from London College of Fashion and Royal School of Needlework, talks about 'My Life in Stitches'.
Wed. 18th July - Sheila Smith, author of Embellish Stitch Felt, will be talking about Contemporary Felt. This will be followed on Thursday the 19th July with a workshop, more details available from the Bookings Secetary.
