One Saturday morning in early December 2001 we had our first meeting of what hopefully will be the Biggar Young Embroiderers Group. Posters had been put up in the usual shops in the town and also in the school and as a result 11 girls (yes all girls) turned up at the hall on the day. They all worked enthusiastically and ended up with either a wall hanging or a small table mat of handmade felt, something which was totally new to all of them. When asked would they like to come back for more they all said yes please and therefore further dates were arranged and application forms for membership were given out We had our second meeting on Saturday 12 January, to which 13 came along-still all girls- wonder if any Biggar boys will be brave enough to join us?

Young Embroiderers group also meets.
